After visiting the Heatons, we headed south a little more to St. George. We spent the night in a hotel and woke up ready to explore. We don't do many trips with just our family, so it was fun to have a mini day of family vacation. Jens woke up at the break of dawn and because other people were still sleeping, set up a bed outside so he could whittle. His friend Nathanael gave him a little pocket knife and he spent many, many, MANY hours whittling a stick into a pointed stick.
We started out at the St. George Narrows, where we spent hours exploring and climbing the rocks. The kids loved all the formations, caves, and narrows. Cora had a great attitude about the back pack and even fell asleep for a while. I tried the narrows and decided almost immediately that I hated it and quickly backtracked--something about feeling stuck between to stone walls didn't appeal to me. But Jens went through three times, Sylvie twice, and Mike once.
Everyone was hot, hungry, and thirsty when we were finished. We went to Smashburger for lunch (Jens had been asking to go there). It was just right. Cora got to try french fries for the first time, which made her day very happy.
Then we went to the St. George temple where we walked around, checked out the Visitor's Center, and admired the beautiful flowers. We went and played at the park for a few minutes afterwords, then stopped at Judd's for some candy and Nielsen's for some frozen custard before heading back to Provo. The car ride was a very sleepy one!
