More June

Grammy came to visit right after Grandma.  We were happy to see her and introduce her to our newest family member!  Cora went to the doctor for her ten day check and we found out she had gained 15 oz. in 6 days.  She is a good eater.  I hope that translates to being a great sleeper soon.

We are starting to see more open eyes from Miss Cora.  She is a sweet, good baby.

The pacifier is not popular.
She seems to be changing and growing overnight, which I find alarming!
With Grammy's help we went to the Farmer's Market and stopped by Jens's swim meet to watch him race.  We saw him swim butterfly, which was really fun.
Alternating between two great summer treats--popsicles and strawberries.

Sylvie still loves holding her sister, although sometimes she only wants to hold her for 30 seconds.
Jens likes feeling big.

Grammy spent lots of time entertaining the big kids--taking them to the pool, the park, on bike rides.  It was great for them to get out of the house and have some fun things to do.

10 Days Old

Grammy came on Wednesday night, and on Thursday she and I took Cora to get newborn pictures taken by Liz Bell.  Liz was so patient and kind--she is good with babies.  It took two and a half hours--did I mention Liz was really patient?  But the pictures are so beautiful.  I wish I had done them with the other kids, but there isn't any going back for that.  Now I need to decide which ones to print and frame--that is going to be the hardest part!

The rest of the first week

Prepare yourself for a few pictures, and by "a few" I mean really, a ridiculous amount.  We are trying to make sure the third child is well documented, I guess. Plus, those new borns just change so fast!  I don't want to miss or forget anything.

This was one of the most interesting things that happened our first week with Cora--my girl who hates to be alone/not held.  We put her on a blanket and Jens started reading to her.  You have never seen a more peaceful baby or a more patient brother.  I think this went on for 45 minutes and Cora was awake and listening the whole time.  Sylvie also took a few turns telling stories, and you could tell Cora loved listening to their voices.

They big kids eventually left, and Miss Cora did not care for that.
Luckily they came back to watch "So You Think You Can Dance."

Jens had his first swim meet on June 8th.  It was the hottest day we've had all summer, a scorching 109 degrees.  Mike, Grandma, Sylvie, and Jens stuck it out, though, and Jens did a great job and had fun.

This is Dad and Cora's favorite together activity.  It happens often, although usually on the couch.

After she eats she practices making faces, which I generally enjoy a great deal. At her first doctor's appointment (4 days old) she has almost regained her birth weight, which was great.
Sylvie was helping Cora be entertained.  She will be a reader, no doubt!

She is so cozy to hold and snuggle.
 Everyone thinks so!
 Doesn't she look tan?
More Daddy bonding time.
More brother bonding time.  Jens held her for several hours the first week.  He couldn't seem to get enough!
Practicing her smiles.
Sylvie is also very enamored with Cora.  We do have to ask her to stop touching and kissing Cora sometimes, as it can get to be a bit much.  But I have a feeling they will be friends.
