July, Week 3

Monday started with our regular things--breakfast, swim team, and packing for "Oh-semite".  Mike, Joel, Jens, and Sylvie departed after lunch to do some camping and hiking.
The entrance to the valley
They hiked to Vernal Falls on Tuesday morning.

Candy break!

Sylvie and Dad rested while Joel and Jens went up to the top of the falls.

They took bikes and that was wonderful.  The valley is small enough that they were able to easily bike to where they wanted to go, including riding all the way up to Mirror Lake.  They also had a close animal encounter on bikes!
In the afternoon when it was hot, they went to Mirror Lake so the kids could swim.

Then they stopped at the camp store for good treats.  Jens had an It's It--our traditional Yosemite treat.  Happily they had a popsicle for Sylvie.

Of course, there was a campfire and S'mores.

The fire got a little smokey for awhile.  Luckily Sylvie had an extra pair of sunglasses to share with Jens.
They were very tired that night.
After they left, I cleaned the house and then Cora and I pretty much did this:
It was amazing how clean the house stayed while they were gone.

We said goodbye to Joel and finished a regular week.  On Saturday Jens had his last swim meet.  It was so fun to see him race.

He got a PR in backstroke, so he got to ring the gong and get a candy.
He had a great dive of the blocks for his breaststroke race.

All at 7-ish weeks

I mainly notice that they are all pretty fat and have a lot of food storage tucked under their chins.
